It's a great marketplace, don't get me wrong, I love selling and purchasing on it, but it needs much better moderation. Low quality submissions kill discoverability. Selling ebooks that you can get for free from Anna's Archive should get your account banned immediately. There needs to be a very, very long list of banned low quality listings that should get your account banned immediately. There should be no tolerance for it. It's like a cancer. You can't let it spread.

Yes true I agree, unfortunately a lot of people don't seem to be able to distinguish between spam and legitimate but yes I agree with what you are saying in and of itself... Sadly a lot of people just paint everything that looks remotely consider "grey" in with the black or scams because they don't actually properly think about these things!
Another problem with XMRBazaar is they have many listings that do not even accept Monero on their company sites, companies that are just using their platform for free marketing.

@SuperViber Not sure, they rely on a "volunteer". They don't seem interested in paying anyone to moderate it. You could ask, of course. It could be turned around with new management but they have their hands full and aren't trying to make a living off of it.

@monerica I listen to Douglas podcast and I heard he want to automate most thing if possible. He want the site to be able to sustain itself. The monetization system is sufficient for it to sustain itself imo, but the problem is how the users behave. If there's no moderator then it is important to sow the right culture in the website. When the culture is established it will be able to moderate itself, like fungi colony that has established itself and fend off the unwanted species. So it need leadership to steer the ship

@monerica There's something to be said about high sponsorship pricing though, XMRBazzar is the only site I'm comfortable sponsoring listings on because the price is low enough that even just one or two orders is enough to have return on investment.
When the price is multiple dollars per day to sponsor a listing, it's difficult to justify since we'd need to see at least 1-2 orders per day to get a return, and that's not always possible.

@sepia There has to be moderation for what they are doing or it just trends to dark web trash. The amount of junk and illegal listings submitted to Monerica would make it get negative feedback in a week. Some basic things can be automated if there is a strong word/ link filter.
This just goes back to the point, there doesn't need to be thousands of listings. There just needs to be good listings.

@monerica that's all the margin plus some on one of the smaller plans we sell, I get it, but I also don't think there's a big enough ROI compared to just being listed on the site in the first place.
Hosting isn't an impulse purchase market, so people are only checking when they need it and advertising is simply not very effective.
