A few years back I came across JapanAnon's video covering Mitra: a micro-blogging platform built on the ActivityPub protocol with a content subscription service that accepts Monero. Perhaps this is what you're looking for?

@jamespond Interesting. This certainly can be used for people that want to self-host their own service. But it's looks like it has steep learning curve for people that aren't familiar with programming language

Looks like I shouldn't have slept on this thread. This sort of collaboration and bootstrapping is what I hoped to see when I first learned of this forum. Brilliant stuff.

Having caught up with the thread, I just came up with a small, obnoxious request:

@nolan , @sepia , since I believe you'll both work together and potentially pay for banner/art commissions, could you list your work on https://monero.jobs ? It's perhaps symbolic, but it just occured to me it could be a good idea to boost that website through a legitimate occasion such as this.

It sounds good in my head, wouldn't it be great if all freelance/commission work across the community be facilitated there ? Curious what others think here.

@jamespond yeah it can be very useful for technical users but as @sepia mentioned for people don't know about anything on self hosting or development progress is a big factor.

and this is my thoughts about it, peoples are looking for convenient software these days. i am sure that even if some non tech user wanna accept monero on them store/online shop but because of they don't know how and what to do about it, they just give up on idea. hosting/maintaining is a hard task for a lot of people.

that's why i started working on openfans, we are tired of vendor lock-in companies, developing useless feature instead of listening community, companies who selling our data and treat customers worst way possible. we know this project not gonna be unicorn or any million dollar value, we just try to create an alternative for people who cannot use banks, paypal but want to create content and while creating it, wanna become little more sustainable. i am just happy that we can use monero for this case and i hope we can introduce a lot of people to monero for the first time.

one side note; one of my goal is making this software open source whenever its ready. technical people wanna host them for they own reason (which i respect that).

I agree on this one, maybe right now not much possible because project ongoing with volunteers (i mean only i am working on development phase + @sepia working on banner). because I know that server costs will be high on those type of project, we cannot host this project normal cost friendly VPS like Hetzner (they dont allow adult content), there are couple server providers but ofc they are little bit more expensive but i hope it can cover 5-6 months of costs which will give us some time.

My goal is spent this donations for server costs. after beta release, I hope project can become more sustainable and can afford its own server costs. if can have enough budget after sustainable version, i will for sure hire people (for example moderation team, developer, marketing etc) so people can earn monero and also contribute the monero community.
