As far as I know there are already:

  1. E-commerce market = XMRBazaar
  2. Freelance market = monero.jobs
  3. Donation and Stream = Xmrchat

But i still didn't see a subscription service that can become alternative to Patreon. What make Patreon interesting is that you can make a tiered service for your supporter and plus you can give exclusive content that only the member can access. Does anyone know such service exist within the Monero community?

what I think would be valuable, is the framework needed for someone to set up their own 'subscription and tip based fan-support and content delivery page'
ie, as an artist I can either choose to pay a fee to have my page set up for me, and not have to worry about hosting, storage, etc , or I can take the code and set up my own page where people can subscribe or tip one time and gain access to various types of content.

now, im just speaking very generally, the number of features needed to make it at least patreon/ kofi/ buymeacoffee tier could fill a few paragraphs.

as more events like this happen (see video), these kinds of sites will be sought after

This is something I am desiring greatly. In the future I'd love to have a subscription based service with extra content for bigger donors, perhaps weekly private live streams or something like that.

I think asking for private live streams to be hosted on this hypothetical platform might be a bit too much in terms of hardware cost/ technical needs, (especially in my imaginary idea of the platform being open source and plug and play) but maybe an alternative would be: ability to send subscribers a link to a private stream, or embed a stream from an alternative source and have a chat for subs, utilizing alternative streaming services such as stream.ninja / odysee/ owncast / stream.place / zap.stream / there are more, the key is finding one that fits your needs (ability to do private stream), you can find a ton of platforms by checking what platforms socialstream.ninja supports

but the function of the platform in this case would be the ability to have fans support via monero and gain access to these private streams(+ other private content such as newsletters, art content, ability to be sent physical items like rewards, yknow the usual patreon stuff), which has an underlying technical layer regarding maybe email newsletter (or better yet, integration with private messaging apps in lieu of email for notifications) functionality, ability to identify subs to give them access to things, etx.

sorry for the word wall, I have too many thoughts in my head! this could be a very valuable project for not just monero but the entire alt ecosystem

@avarice i used to be a member of one of youtuber's patreon page. he was using youtube unlisted video's link to share on patreon. i am thinking using almost same method but you can manage your members etc on platform.
my vision like a social media page of creator's page but only with subscription.

livestreaming topic is a hard one. cost a lot of computing power + bandwidth. using alternative platform for private streaming is the best shot like you said.

i agree on your thoughts, it has a potential in my opinion. but if i build this project, probably gonna do xmr first payment method, after that gonna be other coin support. no tracking + privacy first tech also gonna be on it for sure. i know that even onlyfans people can interested on this type of project :)

but if i work on this project, it should be sustainable. server costs probably gonna cost around $20 - $300/months depends on traffic + my own bills.

yes sustainability is very important, think about it from the perspective of 'making something that a creator could take and use themselves with low upfront costs', and if you host your own version for creators, they should be giving you something or you could crowdfund the sources as well

this seems like the kind of project people would be willing to support the development of, as long as real proof of work can be shown

High friction rails shape this circular economy. If you earn in fiat and you're trying to save in crypto, you are better off never spending crypto (prefer spending fiat). If you're trying to spend crypto but you have to spend fiat, you are better off never earning it (prefer earning fiat). This behavior might be derided by the crypto geeks but its just simple game theory. Of course, completely avoiding fiat is a dominant strategy in the long term, but with the fiat enforcement racket and the 'tyranny of the default', this will continue to be a niche market.
Don't let that stop you, but maybe its food for thought. @nolan

@nolan I'm not too big on the name. makes me think of reddit lol.

@avarice yeah private stream links would be an easy work around.
