@Otherfren I agree on your takes. As far as I know we can't solve the first problem. That's why I wanna approach the Mullvad Model (day based) and whenever user want to continue to support, they will add balance them accounts/pay package.

@Kodomu after reading your comment, I would say it's better to send to package's transaction directly to creator and calculate the percentage, end of the month, creator can pay to xmrstars. But one thing concerns me is that fake creator accounts and scam activity. If we go with this way, I believe I have to verify every single new creator at day one. Also, if we keep all the money on one wallet on our system, I believe hackers might be interested on our funds etc. I don't wanna lose people's money and loose trust on my name from community.

@nolan I thought about it some more, and there's two ways you could handle the fees.

Say the fee is 10%, for every 9 payments directed to the creator, you can direct one to the site's wallet (you could take this one first and then release the others directly). You could also make creators deposit some amount to be directed to fees. This solves the issue with the fees potentially going unpaid.

As an extremely well cultured degenerate who has sadly watched creators I love get kicked off of Patreon, abandon their games on f95zone, or tone down their kinks on OnlyFans - I am an instant fan of this project.

I was actually about to try and vibe code some unholy hybrid of bittorrent/Monero/Patreon myself - but this seems like a more realistic approach. Although moderating all the content yourself seems like it could turn into a quagmire - especially if you're going to draw your own lines on what's acceptable instead of simply basing it off of legality.

Regarding fees: if you really wanted to undercut current platforms and simplify things - you could just charge for hosting creator's content and not take a cut of subscriptions at all.

Creators simply pay you to host their content at whatever rates you set, and payments to creators go directly P2P without you taking the liability of holding funds, or requiring trust that you won't exit scam.

Matching users to payments so they can be given appropriate access could be tricky, but I imagine there's some way to do it with subaddresses & view-only wallets.

i like that approach as well regarding the fees but that adds the barrier of entry that:
"already needs to have some monero to make some monero"

one of the goal regarding the broader ecosystem would be to allow people that dont have monero to make monero which that type of platform could help address if designed that way

Have a free tier with barebones storage so people can put up a basic profile page with some pictures. If they can't/won't pay then they can still use the free tier and send their patrons password protected links to their content on Mega/GoFile/etc. (A lot of Patreon creators do it this way anyway).

But the people who have the money can just pay you to host the content - and presumably you could offer a more streamlined way of getting authorized users access to gated content compared to them juggling files on 3rd party sites & sending passwords through DMs.

This way would make it relatively frictionless for creators to join the platform, with a compelling "Premium" feature-set that can cover costs.

Sorry, one last thing regarding recurring payments:

I haven't seen anyone bring up the Monero Payment Request Standard or the Monero Subscriptions Wallet and I'm curious if either could be useful to the project. They seem particularly relevant to what you're trying to do here.

@TwistedTurtle Regarding the moderation it will be a challenge for sure especially that only one man that filtering it. I think there's more saner approach using decentralization method where people can report illegal activity that occur on the platform and only then the admin can interfere and judge if the user content is breaking the law and ultimately endanger the website as a whole (DMCA report, violence etc).

Here's my feedback on how this can be integrated in the website development:

• First Stage (1-50 Creators)
  At this stage all content moderation will be handled by the admin. Each user that want to register will be under focused scrutiny to decide if their content is legal and not spamming the website with junk and criminal activity.

• Second Stage (50-100 Creators)
  The user base are established and the moderation become more loose. People that already accepted will be receiving invitation code that allow them to invite their fellow creator to join the website and become a creator themselves. At this stage I think the right culture will be set and it will propagating itself and kicking bad actors out of the community. This is the strategy that a platform like Vgen use (Vgen is a commission platform for artist to make a living).

• Third Stage (100+ Creators)
  At this point the admin can put their hands off at strict moderation and give report button for people to self report illegal activity on the platform. Only then the admin will see the report and give the final verdict if that creator is allowed to exist in the platform. This is similar to how Xmrbazaar operate which people are given the opportunity to report illegal listing. It won't be as effective as moderating each user but it is necessary as the platform scale and the user grow.

@sepia In most countries, the laws protect sites from hosting illegal things they aren't aware of, especially a site focused around UGC there still isn't the expectation to proactively moderate as long as you act when you are made aware.
The key here though is to get a reliable domain registrar, sometimes we register domains on behalf of our customers and I'm struggling to count the amount of times that registrars have suspended a domain completely with no due process or recourse, without even providing links to the alleged infringements, and without letting us even make a case.
There's a few we have had better experiences with so it's not impossible to find one, but losing the domain for the site would definitely hurt the project. There's even TLDs that are better than others for relaxed policies.
