Mullvad's co-founder is apparently the main financier of a Swedish far-right party

Original Story (Swedish) https://www.flamman.se/techprofil-ger-miljoner-till-orebropartiet/

Posting this because I hadn’t heard about it before and I’m probably not the only Mullvad user here, so might as well.

I’m not Swedish, but going off NATOpedia, it seems like the party is basically reinventing fascism from first principles:

The party claims to stand for a “class-conscious populism” which according to party leader Markus Allard takes inspiration from marxist ideology and unites the “productive” classes of society against the “Transferiat”, with the “Transferiat” being a term coined by Allard to describe the classes of society that lives off transfers that are a net negative for society such as those who, despite having an ability to work, live off social welfare benefits, as well as those who work “made-up services”[…]

The party differs from modern day left-wing parties by seeing the working class as co-dependent with people working in enterprise and business and instead sees the classes that “live off transfers”, as specified, as a large economic net-negative and an obstacle for a functional society.

Their ideology is nonsense fake-marxist revisionism to redirect anger at capitalism and turn it against immigrants and people who need social welfare (though they do back some generally left oriented social policies, their main thing appears to be racism)

Even if you’re comfortable with funding this, it still begs the question of just how trustworthy Mullvad actually is.

I guess this still beats any of the dozens of Israeli VPNs that definitely spy on you, but it’s not great

I see on lemmy. btw, just for the record, lemmy instance is mine :)

@nolan I hear that. If I were to not use or purchase things based on politics, Im not sure there is a single business in the world that perfectly aligns with where I stand on things. If its a quality product and the price is right, that's what matters. There are exceptions (Amazon for one), but I dont appreciate people telling me how to think or what position to take, so I would be a completer hypocrite were I to do thge same

@CharliePrimero both are abhorrent ideologies. Neither care about freedom. Both are centralized authoritarianism. Two sides of the same coin

Incorrect.

The goal of Marxism is concentration of power into a one-world State global slave planet run by Oligarchs.

The goal of Nationalism is the exact opposite. Nationalism seeks to disperse sovereignty out the individual level as much as possible.

@CharliePrimero Nazi Germany, nationalist and centralized authority. Fascist Italy, nationalist and centralized authority. Zionist Israel, nationalist and centralized authority. Communist China, nationalist and centralized authority. Imperial Japan, nationalist and centralized authority. In all cases, the state is supreme to the people. And in all cases, there was no privacy or freedom. But why let history guide anything? Just because one ideal is bad does not mean the polar opposite is good. Two sides of the same authoritarian coin.

False.

The goal of Nationalism is to disperse sovereignty out to the individual level as much as possible while still maintaining the benefits of group action.

This is the opposite of Capitalism where sovereignty is transferred from the People and concentrated among whomever has accumulated the most wealth.

This is the opposite of Communism where sovereignty is transferred from the People and concentrated at the top of the State.

@CharliePrimero
Nationalism is a stupid story for stupid plebs to love their taxman, who will always sell them out for the right price.
The only opposition to one-world government is taking direct control of independant and defensible positions: land, money and supply chain. There is no political defence because they can buy that as easily as TV.
Maybe my view is extreme, and sometimes people think I'm some sort of apocalypse prepper but in my view we are already post apocalyptic and this is truly the struggle of our times: civilisation's desperate struggle against the machine.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II there is no land that's not controlled by states, there's no money that's not controlled by central banks, there is no supply chain that's not controlled by the elites and their cooperation with the states.

the problem is not that the concept of state is evil, the problem is states no longer serve to people. nation-states are dying, people no longer trust each other, people no longer care for each other, people no longer know each other. this is what they want, they want to rule the ruins of mankind. a pile of humans with no purpose or will to stand up.

after this point, there won't be an honorable struggle. it will be the elites at the top and the serfs at the bottom, pacified with ideals that bear no vital energy. nationalism was the pinnacle of the mankind. now medieval age has returned.

about your views, i believe libertarians at least do have the noble sense of freedom, but they lack the practice and plan needed to change things.
