mining solo wownero

I sort of feel like the choice made my Wownero, to have no pool mining at all, is good.

Has this discussion ever been discussed for Monero?

I feel like it is similar to asic-resistance. What do you people think?

there's been other solo-mining monero forks too like nerva
which is great for those smaller coins
for monero however, that would weakens the network security due to too many people leaving mining, because it would be too RNG solo-mining a block and hope to find just 1 within like a whole year or somethin...
monero now has P2Pool which has the similar goal of avoiding pool centralization
P2Pool was also a thing for bitcoin but never got the adoption it deserved unfortunately
for monero it's not a lost cause yet, can still shill P2Pool + Solo mining there

I know you're correct from the standpoint of human nature/impulsiveness...... Just if I'm thinking too idealistically I think everybody could stop being so impulsive and be ok with 1 large prize every 5 years instead of 1,000 tiny prizes over the course of 5 years. Wouldn't it also reduce utxo bloat??

All that said, I'm grateful for the existence of p2pool.

I think everybody could stop being so impulsive and be ok with 1 large prize every 5 years instead of 1,000 tiny prizes over the course of 5 years.

so paying electic bills for 5 whole years purely based on speculation that the nethash will stay the same?
after few months of paying bills without a single reward then that just make sense people would be leaving the network

like to give an example, when the nethash was at around 2GH/s i was able to solo-mine 2 blocks over few months
and despite the coin having done a x3 in price since, that the RNG was actually on my side, those were actually lucky blocks, well, those 2 blocks still didnt even pay for themselves, the electricity is just too expensive
now the nethash is around 6GH/s
now that would be even more speculative and RNG to mine
i got a few rigs, not that many but still more than the average videogamer that we trying to onboard, which in their case have like their gaming rig and that's pretty much it
they not gonna waste 5 years of electric bills based purely on speculation, considering that the nethash wont even be the same 5 years later

so yea, that would force people out of the network, making the overall nethash not as high as it could be (so more vulnerable to attacks like the Qubic thing back in 2025)

so while the mining proof of work is securing the network, imo botting proof of work is still the way to go to keep scaling, more profitable with better incentive
i mean, not replacing mining, but alongside, which would also give people an actual entry point into monero with their gaming rig to make a few piconero here and there (circular economy)

the nethash should keep growing, else it will still be very vulnerable to attacks like the Qubic ones, which monero got lucky there, it could have been way worse with more funding from adversaries there ...

btw, thanks on your other thread too over there:
https://monero.forum/thread/xmr-most-libre-foss-oriented-magic-internet-coin-ive-ever-encountered

like said on the monero.jobs thread, too many people that learned about "opensource" only because of bitcoin or whatever so $$$
monero.jobs people, CCS people... that are expecting to be paid for their work, like, yea sorry i just gonna have my own bias on that and while i do appreciate the work some contributors are doing, alot of them, i just despise
are they to blame tho? nah, they gotta eat too
but if mining wasnt so shit and unprofitable, like, if literally everyone was able to make $$$ from mining (like some did with speculative mining back in the days), then alot more would be able to contribute without expecting anything in return, because opensource and shits u know lol
we out here trying to make some cool shits, not lambo to the moon or whatever

so i guess that's my goal for now, proof of concept of the solution to be like "hey yall retards cryptobros that cant math, mining proof of work IS the proof of concept, botting proof of work is a thing and still is a thing and is better, both can co-exist, mining proof of work for the network security, botting proof of work for us normies that the electric bills are too expensive)
