Donations Open-Source

Incidentally found out while scrolling project pages, at least a couple of open source software I make heavy use of and help me a lot, have a Monero donation address.

I thought to make a thread to any similar project out there so we can recognise and introduce useful projects to other members, and also help those projects out by donating Monero.

Today's recommendation is Farhan (IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repo).

This app helped me tremendously to reduce my near-addicted phone usage, by cleverly shutting down the many ways apps manipulate me and call for my attention.

Donate.

@H1XMR OrganicMaps got me out of a sticky situation when I was lost in a foreign city without an internet connection, just GPS and a pre-downloaded map :D

I enthusiastically recommend MyExpenses, an app used to track expenses. Been using the app for years to manage my finances.

The author is pretty nice, I on-boarded him to PGP and Monero and bought multiple license keys for my friends and I. The app was so good I felt obligated to pay the man!

@H1XMR hmmm I guess he hasn't updated the website yet. I suppose you could reach out to him over email (support@myexpenses.mobi)? Here's his public key:

I'd send you you his XMR address, but I can't be sure he's still using the same one.

@admin couldn't find a generic file upload menu in the editor, am I missing something?

@ancap_objectivist

@admin couldn't find a generic file upload menu in the editor, am I missing something?

i just made a suggestion thread over there:
https://monero.forum/thread/suggestion-upload-txt-asc-pgp-source-code-files-etc-click-expand-collapse

like there's literally a whole "bugs & suggestions" category thing that pretty much no one is even posting over there:
https://monero.forum/category/bugs-suggestions

so yea idk @ancap_objectivist i just asked the llm for the thread but feel free to improve on the suggestion as well, like, alot of the suggestions not been implemented so maybe the suggestions just needs to be better so they can even be considered in the first place, is like admin be out here and having high standards or somethin to implementing suggestions i guess lol, so yea, feel free to improve on the suggestions and whatnot :P

I found this password manager that takes xmr donos
The key feature is that it syncs your devices without using google cloud other similar alternatives, but instead everything stays local and syncs directly with your devices via webrtc after using nostr to establish the relationship (summarizing as a noob)

I haven't tried it yet, but could be cool

@avarice
Looks quite interesting, but password managers are such a critical tool that I'd prefer sticking to the established giants over experimenting. I use KeePass-based PMs personally.

Which brings us to today's recommendation KeePassDX (F-Droid)

I bet we're all using PMs here (that or, you're writing passwords down a piece of paper). So there's no need for any description, you know how it works. Unfortunately, the PC client I use, KeePassXC, doesn't accept Monero donations (could be a good candidate for the Shamelist), so no links for that one !

Donate.

Really glad this one takes XMR donations: DroidFS (F-Droid).

This brings gocryptfs/CryFS encrypted filesystems to Android. Basically the VeraCrypt of Android. Must-have.

Donate.
