Patreon Competitor?

@avarice Theoritically the framework exist today if we want individual membership website. Mental Outlaw already prove it with his online shop, a membership style should be possible. Using Wordpress + NowPayment/Malum Card2Crypto should be possible. But i haven't tried it myself so i cannot say much for that matter

@nolan You're right, it will attract NSFW community if such platform exist because of the nature of Monero. Currently people that did NSFW are searching for asylum because they get kicked out of Patreon and other service derivative because Visa/Mastercard is purging people that they don't like. I think there is real demand out there but people are still afraid using crypto in general so it will be a great obstacle for the website sustainability.

There is option to help the website sustainability like people that want to join the service as a creator must pay a small monthly fee to support the server maintenance cost or cutting 5% profit for every withdrawal

2. xmrquarter.com
3. xmrstar.com
4. xmrclub.com
5. agostar.com (as in agorism)

@nolan is .com required? no need to spend big (and no prob. this is my fave type of convo, gotta encourage it)
my fave website names are ones where the domain combines well, like wheresmyed.at and nonogra.ph

plus, you want the name to be long term. and accessible, so you don't want to make it sound verh political or aggressive/ hype

personal ideas:
UniversalSupport
OpenFans (open as in open source?)
FFOrfanS (play on ffos, kinda cringe)

key points:
should be unique so doesn't get buried in search results
should be welcoming and not super political sounding

wanting to mention xmr is understandable, but long term you might make it workable with any crypto, so think carefully
ie, one site that does something like patreon but way worse UI wise is unifans, which supports usdt for donating and withdrawl, but is very clunky- but shows that some potential users may want to deal with stablecoins- though you might just want to recommend some reputable swap sites rather than deal with that yourself.

@avarice i like the second one. OpenFans, feel like a universal club or something that everyone can join

@sepia I just read some articles about visa mastercard drama on those communities, and I am fine with them. probably only rules gonna be no pedo activity on the site. I was thinking 3% but maybe i should increase to 5%. I wanna add a feature to people can share videos/images in future with means more computing power + storage. I checked the hetzner VPS yesterday night and looks like it can work in this project (at least on beta and first phase)

@avarice i was thinking .com maybe more mainstream for most of the people, otherwise my personal website domain name is nolan.st :) i love the openfans name, and ofc we cannot purchase that name because transfer fee is $99k. ofc if anybody here is secret satoshi and willing to send that donation lol
i believe i will purchase a domain name like .pm or something like that on mynymbox.

Alrighty, updates: I purchased the openfans.at. right now on purchase on pending.
on development side, i decided to go with python/django, gonna develop this project with as less javascript as possible. my goal is no javascript if i can do it but if i have to add a crucial feature and needs to be work with javascript, i will write it (pure normal vanilla javascript)

on styling, i am thinking picocss pumpkin theme
on wallet/payment side, like xmrchat, i will go with monero-lws
if community want to use stablecoin, maybe for now, we can implement a basic swap on trocador.app or something similar.

i am not sure how long this project development but because i will work part time on this, gonna take a while for sure :)

back in 2018/2020 wanted to open a patreon page thing for the erogame was making at the time
am not a dev or anything but renpy in python for visual novel been user friendly to learn some python basis

never opened the page tho, since already at the time nsfw was at risk on patreon...
(f95zone been nice for these tho, nsfw games lol, well, just checked again and seems like now is trying to target AI enthusiasts or somethin which is a shame cause that was a legit space for nsfw game devs...)

but yea, a patreon alternative definitely been something missing in the monero ecosystem so massive props on taking that initiative, however long it might take, that's a great project so big cheers on that :3

@nolan sounds like a great idea to me. I was afraid you will not accept NSFW artist because those people are the most affected and need sanctuary for source of income, plus those kind of artist are in high demand so people wouldn't mind learning to use Monero for that. Even anime girl with bikini is deemed too much nowadays. I think for saving server cost in beta-phase you should limit how many people can sign up. They first must have large following or have valuable service that they can offer (i can imagine people filled it with spam just because they can). When the website got enough traction then it can be opened up to everyone.

@cipherchan thank you for tips mate, you guys are legend. i wanna show the details of purchases, expenses here:

• domain name cost me around $17/year (i already cover on my pocket, its fine)
• for development, i am using hetzner, performance server, around $10/month (probably gonna cover until production release)

server cost gonna increase after beta for sure (i assuming around $60/month + s3 storage which idk)
i will show every expenses and donation on openfans.at site but still waiting domain name pending. (i created a ticket about that now)

another topic about tips/donations. after beta release, i wanna add early supporter badges on profile's whoever donate on project. also thinking about some discount for those supporter as a perk. (like 50% discount any creator's page or something) if you guys have any ideas i would love to listen as well.

@sepia don't worry about NSFW community, i am open to any community (except pedos) whoever willing to use monero :) and yes, they are the most affected on last couple months. as someone who got banned from my own bank in abroad, i know how shitty that situation. good advice on limiting sign ups, probably gonna do manual check which i dont mind tbh. sometimes everything shouldn't be automated. if things goes big, probably will need a team for moderate the website etc but this is not today's topic :)

for sure will ask some help on poster for sure, but i wanna pay for that job. your work deserved to be paid <3

Update on development side: today worked around 6 hours on project, managed to add my models and add a simple auth system for creators side. tomorrow planning to add login + fans registiration + fans login page.

adding a screenshot on creator's registiration, i hope you guys like the UI from pico, otherwise gonna switch to something else or write my own css :)
