Work has begun on building a Monero online education site. It's vital at this stage to collect feedback to see if this is worth doing.

The basic idea is a monthly subscripton with a variety of courses from beginner to advanced on Monero and Monero related topics. Since it's trying to appeal to people at all levels of understanding Monero, it will have both credit card and Monero payment options. There might also be a member forum as well and possible other add-ons for more 1-on-1 assistance.

This would be a massive undertaking in terms of time commitment to build. Therefore, it's important at this stage to collect as much feedback as possible on what courses should be included and to assess if this is going to be a worthwhile endevor.

From various posts on this forum, it seems that there is a need for this kind of resource. It's far too difficult to grow Monero use without a beginner friendly resource that assumes nothing at all about a person beyond their ability to use the internet. There are too many basic questions that need to be answered without attacking people.

But beyond this, there are also intermediate and advanced topics that need to be explored. People who have been using Monero for years still may have no idea how to build a business or make any meaningful contribution to adoption. There needs to be more Monero accepting businesses.

Online courses are not just education though, there needs to be a clear goal and outcome to justify ongoing payment and course updates. For example, someone needs to believe they will make the money they spend back. Maybe there are people who just want to learn how to buy Monero, set up a wallet and have it, although it's hard to say.

So the question is, what actual courses would you want to see, or see a demand for someone to buy? What are you personally interested in knowing or learning about? Ideally this revolves around helping someone make money because there needs to be a justification for someone spending hundreds of dollars a year on this platform.

Paid courses for XMR is not something I can imagine doing, nor can I picture in my head the kind of person who'd want such thing.

I'm still reading through Zero to Monero, and have extensively read Moneropedia and some of the guides over at https://www.monero.how/ . For visual learning, I've watched both Dr Kim's excellent (even if probably dated) presentations on Monero:

It is thanks to the different resources above that I'm not able to imagine a need for subscription-based education site.

I'm nonetheless vaguely interested (as I am with any new project to do with Monero) so I'd ilke to see what others on the forum think.

yea idk about that tbh...
paywalling educational content sounds kinda fucked up, aaron swartz didnt die for nothin

some example thread in communities outside the monero community:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=102353093&f=383

not paywalled, actually meant to onboard people
some drama happened since (thanks ccs retards, not gonna remake the thread, it has been deleted for a reason, yall can go fuck yourselves)

paywalling that shit is just fucked
would 100% leak "educational content" that is paywalled, for free
knowledge should be available to anyone

youtube cryptogurus or whatever the fuck literally be like

edit: also no offense monerica for not having added your site on there even after 4 years of educational free content, the frontpage was just a mess, glad the design is better now, if were to remade the thread today, would add monerica, your website didnt met my high standards or whatever at the time, so, sorry about that

@H1XMR These kinds of video resources are not really worth paying for, which is why they are free. They exist as lead magnets to get consulting.

Zero to Monero is far too technical and offers no ROI to a person unless they want to be a core developer. Sure, there are intellectually curious people who want to know this but that doesn't seem like a big or worthwhile audience to create something for, they will gladly just read a book.

The real objective is getting more people to start Monero accepting businesss, so it's part business education, and where Monero fits into that. The value equation needs to be there, like: how to build an instant swap exchange (these make millions of dollars), how to sell gift & prepaid cards (makes decent money), how to add Monero to an existing business checkout (get more customers), best practices in building a private focused e-commerce site, etc.

Again, it's not clear what topics to cover or what people want to know that's worth paying for.

@lIlIIllIIIIllllII There are different perspectives. If you are going to tell someone how to learn about Monero today, what do you actually say?

There are always going to be pirates who steal content and have a problem with paying for education but there are also people out there who care about financial privacy that want a more organized way to learn things. It's possible that the real audience and feedback won't come from this forum.

There's already nearly 100 free videos made on the Monerica YouTube. But none of this really goes into enough depth.

If the content was free, then there would have to be something worth paying for. The question then is, what is that?

There are different perspectives.

true, onboarding businesses is different than onboarding individuals
been doing both tho

If you are going to tell someone how to learn about Monero today, what do you actually say?

for my clients, i been accepting either cash or monero
if they been wanting to talk to me about the dogecoin or shiba inu or even bitcoin, then i just been going out of my way to actually make a whole session about that
personalized custom experience for everyone, can do the gfe, the pse, or just the explaining that cryptocoin thing experience
would be nice if more people in the space had higher standards regarding that type of thing too, but i guess now its just gonna be worse and worse, with people just getting lazy with llms or whatever

like, in the P2P circular economy space, we already provide a way better customer experience than like regular 9-5 customer services already

p2p markets are reputation based mostly
while 9-5 customer services arent, they just on the payroll no matter what and can afford to get lazy

did everyone just retire 10 years ago and doesn't care about making money or growing the Monero economy?

am currently retired from sexwork, tho in an open relationship with someone that has been precious af and understanding regarding that, that, sometimes just gotta do a bit of work to pay some bills, we making it work, but mostly retired yes

so when moved to new place, first thing i did was map out all the 420 sellers in the area and nearby areas, and did that shilling the monero thing too, first buying with cash and leaving a tip in cash, then 2nd time buying with cash, asking if can leave a tip in monero
(doing a quick explanation with how to get it setup with cakewallet)

which if cake reading this, yall should have kept shilling cake to e-girls and doing sponsorships or somethin, that type of grassroot adoption works

@monerica but yea i guess if your goal is more to do like doug and have like bigger businesses, then yea sure do your thing i guess
like, onboarding amazon directly, then yea, that's more of a job for you and doug i guess lol

but imo grassroot adoption is where it at and everyone can do their part on that, without requiring to paywall literal educational content
