Work has begun on building a Monero online education site. It's vital at this stage to collect feedback to see if this is worth doing.

The basic idea is a monthly subscripton with a variety of courses from beginner to advanced on Monero and Monero related topics. Since it's trying to appeal to people at all levels of understanding Monero, it will have both credit card and Monero payment options. There might also be a member forum as well and possible other add-ons for more 1-on-1 assistance.

This would be a massive undertaking in terms of time commitment to build. Therefore, it's important at this stage to collect as much feedback as possible on what courses should be included and to assess if this is going to be a worthwhile endevor.

From various posts on this forum, it seems that there is a need for this kind of resource. It's far too difficult to grow Monero use without a beginner friendly resource that assumes nothing at all about a person beyond their ability to use the internet. There are too many basic questions that need to be answered without attacking people.

But beyond this, there are also intermediate and advanced topics that need to be explored. People who have been using Monero for years still may have no idea how to build a business or make any meaningful contribution to adoption. There needs to be more Monero accepting businesses.

Online courses are not just education though, there needs to be a clear goal and outcome to justify ongoing payment and course updates. For example, someone needs to believe they will make the money they spend back. Maybe there are people who just want to learn how to buy Monero, set up a wallet and have it, although it's hard to say.

So the question is, what actual courses would you want to see, or see a demand for someone to buy? What are you personally interested in knowing or learning about? Ideally this revolves around helping someone make money because there needs to be a justification for someone spending hundreds of dollars a year on this platform.

@monerica This is great, but you need to market it not as academy but as a business solution. It's like making a linux class to learn about the OS, most people don't need it, they want the OS to be able to do their job or get money. And I agree with you about helping people building their business with Monero. I think there is demand for this. Building business without the hassle of sign up to Bank? That sounds great. Or making a merchandise store business etc. Marketing and choice of word is the key

@quadriocellata It seems there is a strong vibe against paying for a structured course here. Which is understandable for existing Monero users. But do you think this is also the case for new people?

There's already some free videos we made on setting up NOWPayments and BTCPay Server but this doesn't seem to have made much of a difference. Nonetheless, a lot of businesses still have no idea how to integrate Monero.

@sepia is there really a demand for business specific education?

@monerica I'd say make the guides/videos free, enable tipping and offer a consulting/integration service thats paid.

@quadriocellata yeah, that's one way to do it. But tipping is not a sustainable business model.

One approach is free videos with sponsors, used as more ad inventory. Then use that as a lead magnet for expensive 1-on-1. But there is very little evidence for any kind of demand for consulting or integration services.

After the feedback here and some AI research, it seems that this site may still get built. However, it would not be able to be a paid membership site. It would be a free resource with sponsors and ads if developed.

@monerica Educational resources on monero should generally be free to all imo .. maybe thats too radical though ;)

Glad to hear you will go with a free approach.

@monerica I think ads is the way to go. You could always have a "premium" course with extras behind a paywall.

Somehow this make me remember about Skillshare, a website that let people make a course on anything they want and get paid by member
