satire government agent smith matrix anarchy

I’m concerned about possible government infiltration of this forum.

@eravsar has been encouraging everyone to stop using it. Getting people to abandon a Monero community would save an agency the trouble of shutting it down, so naturally I asked whether he worked for the government.

He said no. His cover was ready immediately.

He then explained that the admin is Canadian and that someone on Telegram had information about wallet movements. I hadn’t asked for an intelligence briefing, but apparently he had clearance to give me one.

He also knows how a real Monero criminal would move stolen funds. I’m unsure whether that comes from field experience or the training manual.

I’ll keep using the forum while the investigation continues. Anyone with further evidence should post it here so @eravsar can collect it during office hours.

I’d disclose the full findings, but that information is above your pay grade.

Apparently I’m an accomplice now. Someone’s Telegram buddy told someone it was so, so we have independent confirmation now. I denied it, but before remembering that denying things is evidence of training.

@eravsar and I cannot comment on an ongoing operation.

attaching it here so people can see what it is about and decide themselves.

i am just warning people because the forum admin is gone, and the exchange they were operating got drained, and you call me a fed.

i am not even from US/EU, my legal name is public on my github, just saying.

@eravsar Not US/EU? Russian intelligence or the Chinese Communist Party, then? I apologize for assuming you worked domestically.

But we already announced we’re conducting an operation together. Does that make me a double agent? Nobody tells me shit at this agency.

@GamingResearchLab Vouching for another operative while publicly discrediting me. You must be with the other agency. My cover is blown, and I still haven’t been told which side I’m working for. 🎻

Off topic and possibly unrelated...

i personally think we ought to go dark and set up a forum chat bulletin board over on tor, or xmpp.

This place is too damn out in the open. Certain members raise red flags for me too, but that's just a habit in being in the XMR community for many years.

@BraveSmoke indeed.

But Mr Smiths can roam public spaces too. A public forum on Tor is still public, so I’d go with small, invite-only circles. Tor helps with privacy, and invitations give you some say over who gets in. Anyone inside can still copy what’s said.

I’d pay attention to how people act over time. If someone keeps fishing for personal details, pushing people to take risks, or ignoring boundaries, that’s enough reason to leave them out. Who signs their paycheck is beside the point.

@yayogerardo https://stasher.news/items/341985

For those who do not know: Nikolai was a true builder and one of the last genuine cypherpunks in crypto. He focused on elegant, permissionless, corruption-resistant systems rather than hype, profit, or personal branding. As one tribute put it, he spent his life crafting tools to realize a vision of a permissionless future, looking power in the eye and building against it.

On the morning of October 28, 2022, from his twitter account, he posted that he was likely being targeted: “They are going to frame me with a laptop planted by my ex gf who was a spy. They will torture me to death.” Hours later his body was found in the water off Condado Beach in San Juan, fully clothed, with his wallet. Official accounts called it a drowning accident with no evidence of foul play.
He died exactly four years ago this week. Unlike so many others (still alive) in the space who learned to compromise on principles, take the money, or stay quiet, Nikolai was not for sale. He kept building systems meant to make coercion harder and freedom more robust. For that, many believe he was “dealt with”...

@BraveSmoke

Personal Rules Against Manipulation and Disinformation

1. Never react immediately to provocation. Anger makes it easier for someone else to control the direction of an exchange.

2. Stay on the original subject. If someone changes the topic, return to the point under discussion. Don't chase distractions.

3. Never defend claims you didn't make. If someone misrepresents your argument, correct it once. Don't waste time defending a straw man.

4. Demand evidence, and examine it. Apply the same standards to allies, opponents, and yourself.

5. Don't accept endless demands for proof. Once evidence has been presented, the other person must address it. Repeating demands without engaging accomplishes nothing.

6. Don't defend your character against insults. Name-calling is irrelevant to whether your argument is correct.

7. Never reveal unnecessary personal information. Keep your identity, location, finances, possessions, contacts, and private activities separate from public debates.

8. Don't allow flattery to buy your trust. Agreement, compliments, and shared beliefs do not establish someone's intentions.

9. Watch patterns rather than isolated incidents. Repeated diversion, misrepresentation, provocation, and selective engagement reveal more than a single questionable response.

10. Never mistake consensus for evidence. Ten accounts repeating the same claim do not make it true.

11. Don't accept guilt as an obligation. Accusations of disloyalty, cowardice, or betrayal do not require you to justify yourself.

12. Never accept invitations to illegal acts or violence. Especially from strangers who encourage you to prove your commitment.

13. Don't let someone dictate your time. You have no obligation to answer every accusation, question, or reply.

14. Keep records when necessary. Screenshots, dates, original statements, and links preserve context when claims are later distorted.

15. Recognize when discussion becomes circular. If nothing new is being presented, disengage.

16. Never assume someone is an agent solely because of their behavior. Manipulation tactics are not proof of affiliation. Focus on what can be demonstrated.

17. Remain willing to correct yourself. Defending a mistaken position out of pride makes you easier to manipulate.

18. Don't let suspicion consume your attention. Constantly trying to identify infiltrators can itself become a distraction from your objectives.

19. Maintain independence of judgment. Neither authority, popularity, ridicule, nor intimidation determines what is true.

20. Know when to walk away. Silence can be a deliberate choice. You don't owe anyone the last word.

The governing rule: Control your attention, your information, your reactions, and your participation. You do not need to identify an agent to make their tactics ineffective.
