Who knew Roombas would turn over to the dark side and become the number 1 state surveillance gadget. It's unfortunate how many things are now shipped with bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, microphone, and camera components — from cars and TVs to refrigerators and vacuum cleaners to sinks and toilets. Everything is now prefixed with the word "smart" despite only retards buying these devices. It's difficult to buy a so–called "dumb" TV and even the most basic of appliances and tools are now tough to find without containing some form of spyware. Even if you go out of your own way to avoid buying these devices, there are plenty of people who still do. Ever think about what happens when you go to your friend's house? What about your neighbors? What about the hotel you recently checked into? Every place has turned into a parody of Turkmenistan and North Korea. It's a bad joke with a bad punchline.
Every time I go check into a hotel, I bring equipment with me to check for cameras, microphones, and any devices that are connected to a network. I had to unplug the lamps before just because they were "smart" lamps. It's completely ludicrous how common IoT devices are and how oblivious the general public is to the risks they expose themselves to on a daily basis.
In the privacy community, we love to talk about conspiracy theories and review all these insane inventions by intelligence agencies and private surveillance contractors, but truth is most of the time none of those tools are even necessary. In most cases, people self–snitch their way through life all on their own and out of their own accord.
The average normie has a Gmail account that is actively scanned by Google, uploads their personal data to the cloud, buys a bunch of smart gadgets to fit in with everyone else, has a smart TV with a built–in camera and microphone that is spying on them in their own living room and bedroom, has multiple social media accounts, installs spyware apps on their mobile devices, wears a smart watch wherever they go, has a SIM card with location tracking enabled, drives a car that logs and records everything they do with it, has several Amazon Echos placed all around the house, installs IP cameras both outside and inside the house, shares everything that happens in their life on facebook, publishes photos of themselves on a daily basis for everyone to see, uses AI software with access to their entire OS that screen records everything they do, uses biometric data to "secure" their devices, installs Google Chrome on Windows as their default browser, grants the government access to all their data, and compromises their own friends while in a perpetual state of blissful ignorance.
If you are the government wanting to spy on the citizens of your nation, the people really could not make this any easier. They're willingly handing over every single part of their life just to live a life of convenience letting the corpos seduce them into complacency, submission, and total obedience.
It's more important than ever before to be very careful with what you buy, what you use, what you install, what permissions you grant, where you go, and how you behave. You don't have to fantasize about some distant and imaginary dystopia — you're already living in one.
