A young hacker think he can get away using multiple VPN but unfortunately he was using Windows. The law enforcement deanonymize him using Global Device ID that automatically linked to a device that have a windows installed on it.

It make me wondering, in the linux space we still have microsoft edge in a flatpak form. Do their browser also marked our linux OS with Global Device ID even though we are not using Windows at all?

highly likely. The bigger a company grows more data they like to get.
Look at the wealth they create thru AI. All AI collect data.
