good shit!

My one question. You're obviously behind this project and have been since day one, why does doug take credit for the entire thing time after time?

Did you just want his name attached to it because he was the biggest influencer at the time of launch?

I learned about Monero and came across Doug's YT channel soon after in 2020. It was his shows that over time converted me from someone just speculating on Monero to actually caring about and wanting to contribute to it.

Fast forward to early 2024 - I had the idea of getting streamers to accept Monero based superchats. Luke Rudkowski is a libertarian news guy, and his response to my suggestion motivated me to start looking into it.

I learned about Shadowchat and started emailing with someone on Luke R's team about setting it up. They seemed open to it, but a month later declined, saying that their web guy was fully dedicated to maintaining existing projects, and not available to install and maintain something new. Lesson learned, content creators don't want to self host. They're not interested unless it's super easy.

At the time, I was volunteering as a tester for xmrbazaar in their Matrix group. I wanted to explore the idea of a service that would let streamers accept Monero superchats and suggested it there. Doug loved the idea and we started working on it. It was great having a motivated streamer let me know what he was looking for and bounce ideas off of. I created Balsamiq wireframes and we'd go back and forth over many chats and a few calls on how it should work.

Doug's input was very valuable at the beginning, and the Monerotopia show was where XMRChat launched and is heavily used. His role has diminished since, but I'm fine with it cause I'm in contact with more creators and fans and have been running with my own ideas. I'm also a private guy, and while personal recognition is nice, it's not a high priority. I'm happy to let Doug be a public face for XMRChat. Doug credits me pretty often when talking about XMRChat too, so it's all good.
