It has been reported that more than 70% of crypto related violence and kidnapping happened in France. The reason is because of data leak that happened with Ledger in 2020 which give criminal their target list. But what makes it worse is that there is also another data breach in crypto tax platform, Waltio, that makes criminal have detailed list on the most profitable individual.
Most of these attack is related to Bitcoin. Although bitcoin privacy is not the strongest, what make this attack possible is because of the platform requiring KYC which they can't do a good job to keep it secure. Even if a user lost their wallet in a boating accident, they still attract bad actor to their door just because the record is there.
