pegasusswap monero community xmr pgs moneroshamelist

moneroshamelist is actually a smart idea
funny on the surface, but the point hits
a lot of brands talk privacy, freedom, anti-censorship
but for payments it’s still cards, btc, usdt

so the site asks a fair question

if you believe in privacy, why not accept xmr?

that’s what makes it interesting
it kind of calls out the gap between what some brands say and what they actually do

curious who people here think belongs on that list?

@PegasusSwap I really like the idea but I think the site design could be improved.

@monerica is it possible to show the logo/name of all companies immediately when you open the website? No description, just a summary of everything. Each could also be clickable, like in a grid. The current list right now is fine and it would be below the summary grid.

I think it would help visualize them.

It's a brilliant idea. It grew on me when I thought more about it.

It's especially embarrassing to see well-respected groups such as the EFF not include Monero donations. It's at best laziness, and at worse... a much worse accusation, let's say.

These self-proclaimed 'pro-privacy' services and groups should either spend the 2-3 hours to include Monero in their stack, or remove the misleading privacy claims.

@H1XMR I agree! How can we talk about privacy if they did nothing for it!?Just like you said, they should remove the misleading privacy claims.

A lot of is ignorance and not wanting to spend a few hours to educate themselves. Running a payserver for Monero has never been easier, and any company with a website and store should do that if they are privacy focused, or at least having a donation link, or some sort of giftcard redirect. For me though what really annoys me is the companies who are dragging their feet or finding the request pointless. I think this screams either a political stance, or concerns about legality, which is frustrating because with a payserver you literally cover all of that.

Seems like a very good project! But do you think it really makes an impact or just complains about companies not accepting xmr?

@PegasusSwap

I nominate every Linux distribution which does not provide a Monero address for donations.

I tried to donate Bitcoin to KDE.org because I like that desktop so much.

I emailed asking how-to. The reply I received was so pissy and insulting I will never, ever donate anything to them.

The cop-out on their website...
