It would be incomplete without one sure; its not a fatal flaw because private vpn's exist but its a pain in the ass but they shouldn't be necessary.

Yes, and personally I think this should have been the standard by now, but the community has actually done worse. Many exchanges don’t even support Tor, they only have clearnet links and use Cloudflare as their CDN. That means even if I’m running Tor myself and pass their annoying JS-Required CAPTCHA, my wallet address, transaction amounts, and details are still exposed to Cloudflare, a big-tech third party. Do they really not MITM the traffic? I don’t buy it.
often, I’d rather just open a throwaway account on XMRBazaar and find a seemingly reputable random guy to act as an escrow for the exchange.
If an exchange claiming to care about privacy wants to be taken seriously, yeah, it better have an onion service. It's about the sentiment before the technical benefit to the user.
