Hello!

I use an iPhone and a Google Pixel running GrapheneOS as my primary devices. From a privacy perspective and personal preference standpoint, I'm curious what phones everyone else is using. I've heard promising things about Motorola with GrapheneOS, and I'm looking forward to that option becoming available. I'm also considering adding a business phone to my setup, but I'm uncertain which platform would be best: Samsung, Apple, Google with GrapheneOS, or something else entirely. What are your recommendations?

in my view samsung has the cleanest OS in android. Xiaomi is innovative. Oppo and Oneplus are in the pits.

In terms of hardware Google chips are getting complaints so there is that and Apple is still the glorious walled garden it always is.

Regardless Samsung is also doing a 360 in the whole custom rom and rooting with them removing the "OEM Unlock" option and logic for that glorious process (to unlock OEM and flash custom ROMS) once you "upgrade" to One UI 8. So there is that.

I honestly would suggest Google, But Android is slowly falling and we will eventually just have "Apple" or "The other OS that wants to be Apple".

phones...
well i guess long story short is there is just 1 option and is grapheneOS
so at this time is pixel, soonish (2027) there will also be motorola supported

back in 2013 was so hyped for that one:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edge
but it never reached full funding sadly, despite being the most funded crowdfunding thing ever at the time

then been so hyped for that modular phone thing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Ara
which it never saw the light of day either, sadly...

few years ago got one of those pinephone but is not daily driver material like at all, just for some fun tinkering
my current grapheneOS daily driver is about to be EOL in few months from now
got some backup ready on that

but like, how fucking cringe are the phones nowadays?
like 1 phone for the photos or whatever but then why do you i need a whole camera + microphone on a device that could be a server, a router, literally anything
and it's not just 1 camera, it's like 1 front, 3 backs?? wut? they so massive nowadays like wtf lmao

like, remember when laptops were shipped without cameras and you would just plug your own? same for the gaming headset and whatnot, headphone jacks, usbs like, they a thing on these lol
but nah, nowadays it's the default, built-in camera + mic, there's still some very few laptops i think some ROG zephyrus that dont have these but still.. they so rare nowadays
and then if looking for one that has like integrated graphics instead of gpu, lots of RAM for lots of VRAM, maybe even that would have AMD SEV (the ryzen "pro" lineup thing)
like at this point that's already narrowing down the search way too much and these laptops just dont exist lol

and for phones, well, they just dont exist at all
pocket computer type thing without the massive quadruple back camera thing
and it's like, it must be adding cost to the device too.. why gotta rebuy that whole camera thing integrated in the phone if just wanna use one of those phones as like a pocket computer for a server or somethin...
but nah, the target audience is like profesional camera people or somethin..
hardware bloat be like
