Why was the payout changed from 0.001 and 0.0002 to 0.000001 to 0.000008?

How do you expect people to get into crypto if you only payout half of a half of a half cent?

Because if I kept paying that much we would run out of money super quickly. The point of the faucet is it have a little bit of monero to use on the forum not to make a living from

possibilities to trades in dust...
i like :3
(minium to tip seems to have lowered too, which is nice)
well ofc still gonna have to shill "not your keys not your coins" and to withdraw yaddy yadda
but i like that implementation O_O

and on the long run if at some point there is some kind of expected influx of newcomers that aint tech savvy or somethin
then by then we could suggest something like "have the possibility to donate to the faucet, (ad spaces might be able to cover some but admin still has infrastructure costs anyways, hosting the whole website, running a whole node thing [...])
and in an other thread also suggested a barrier of entry type thing so the faucet is not drained by just 1 guy with multi accs or somethin lol
so that way for a bit it could have higher payouts for actual newcomers to get used to the tech, their moneroforum wallet and just starting using it

so i guess will see how it goes
but having that monero thing working directly on the forum, that's just awesome so yea, cheers on all that O_O

I hope I’ll still be alive in 10 years so I can reread this thread haha. Let’s remember that at the time of the first Bitcoin faucet, its value was negligible and the market didn’t really exist.

My first two claims earned me $0.14. Today we are 1,000 members. Let’s assume that only 10% of members use the faucet (I’ll let the admin confirm whether that estimate is accurate) and that they received the same amount. That would mean that a single day of claims costs more than a full month of advertising revenue for the site — that’s not sustainable.

Here’s what I propose: I’ll add 0.01 XMR to my forum wallet and I’ll tip whenever a member brings real value in their posts. I encourage everyone to do the same.

And to those who feel discouraged by this new system, I invite you to tip the amount you earned before leaving.

1 XMR = 1 XMR.
