The FCMP++/CARROT beta stressnet is a fork of Monero's testnet which aims to test the FCMP++/CARROT upgrade in an environment mimicking high-stress real-world usage. The fork block height is 2,997,100, targeting a bit before the MRL meeting on May 6th. We want as many people as possible to run the software, use it, and report back any issues they experience. We already ran an alpha stressnet, starting October 3rd. It was a huge success, revealing dozens lot of deep issues with both the FCMP++/CARROT integration, as well as with the current Monero software. A lot of improvements have been made since then, and we're looking forwards towards people breaking it again this go around!
To participate, you can either compile the software yourself, or download binaries. Then simply use the software (node, wallet, etc) with the --testnet flag as you would normally. Whichever option you choose, make sure to check for software updates frequently, since development moves fast! You can join the Monero Stressnet channel on Matrix at #monero-stressnet:monero.social for updates and discussion with other stressnet contributors. Issues can be reported to the Seraphis migration issue tracker. You can view the releases page for extra information as well.
Happy stressing!
FCMP++ is a proposed upgrade to replace ring signatures with membership proofs that span the whole chain. When spending Monero, instead of making a ring signature proving you own 1 of 16 Monero outputs, you make a proof that you own 1 of the 150 million+ Monero outputs from across the entire Monero blockchain.
Carrot is a proposed upgrade to Monero's addressing protocol, bringing new security, privacy, and usability features, while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing addresses.
