Opportunity for Monero in Russia!?

first things first. crypto legalized under new law back on last month i think. and core idea was to make import-export easier, not domestic usage

secondly they had indepth national payment system so crypto was hard other than for foreign ppl transaction with russian ppl

third. your url you're using was too western. (the same western who yapping about ukraine will liberate crimea in the end of 2025) which is too much clickbait. fake, and western propaganda. need to search other ones.

for monero its just like btc, and ltc. they already being use and will be use more and more by other people on there for international transaction. but for national wide.... high transaction payment..... no.... maybe not until monero had proper way to eliminate 10 block lock, and used by more people.

So people in Russia want XMR for the same reason people in America do.

i understand what you are saying about the tech and usage
with my thread i tried to emphasize that our main adoption will happen rapidly based on events and how well we can use them to push for adoption (whirlwinds, surf the wave ...)

that's why i think people should have monero flags ready so that when there is something like yellow vests, we can ride the train and build our narratives

@esna7 agree, but really man.... if you going to make argumen from some western media like that. on my brain almost said to give the least respect to that.

western propaganda always love to frame something and blow it out of proportion
they can just take some random sent amount of money or the total withdrawal and say that some X country is on middle of collapse since alot of people take money out from the bank...
while on reality its not the case. money moving, booth enter or out.

somehow if people forget how to see the problem or subject more clearly, they tend to had bad view and missinterprate the situation

just like how now ukraine doing dual propaganda, they always said russia in ruin, bomb in moscow. lack manpower, ukraine win, while on other hand they yapping why russian bombing kiev, destroy fuel station, electric transformer, massive mass kidnapping from goverment and force those people to enlistment, etc...

it just never ending story. or if we look at caucasus, back then, azerbaijan liberate his land from terorist separatist backed by armenia.... and some reason western ppl support the terrorist suddently? thats wild. the media keep talking ethnic armenian get genocide by turkey in past, while the real problem was nagorno karabakh which was azeri territory controlled by terorist backed by armenian....

thats how you mix and re-match some drop of fact become full blown "new truth" and make the people belive the fake new truth....

economy is bad everywhere, russia is far from doing good, same as ukraine

we need to be where collapse is possible and honestly so far i have seen way more russians in the monero community than ukrainians

@esna7 welp if you asked me, russian guys already there when durov run from russia
since begining the ru guys always love crypto for offshore payment since their international non CIS payment wasn't good. for ukraine, welp they always using western system so no point they're using crypto anyway

that's the different. need to look from wide-view point. also ukraine was smaller in population. ofc its more rare to see them even when they booth had same percentage.
but the point remain. Russia just love using their own payment system which already flawlessly works since even before covid. and they just need fast payment cross border. so far doing project with russian guys was they using litecoin, usdt, and btc. monero? welp swapping alone take them almost 20+ minutes, (cough block lock 10)

we as monero community should really consider that. before reaching more people. and yeah out of 7-ish who using monero (some of my friend) the most issue they had was block lock, its insane if you want to do like.... "5" fast transaction, and you using monero. its not as straight forward as you using litecoin, btc, and other ETH coin.

so last closing statement from me regarding russia and crypto....

• can they (russian) adopt monero? well... kinda..... but no. 10 block lock was real deal for people who had brain oriented around how to make things done fast. adding + 20ish minutes is wild
• does russia will use crypto more because economic blockade? in western opinion? yes. reality? not really
• does russia using any crypto at all? yes.... mainly cross border ones, why? welp nationwide transfer already peak. why bother to had any other things if the current one already works perfect?
• ummm... isn't they evil tyrant who steal people's money for war? nope.
• so russia had full free speak spik? some "SPIK" yes, but not fully. you can't just yapping random things and get away with it.
• so monero can't shine on russia? welp monero is monero.... good idealism and fundamental but in reality need more ppl to make the whole ecosystem feels better. also on monero we had something that "limit" itself like 10 block lock. its just like life, we're not only breathe, but eat, etc. crypto other than anon, also need to be "fast" imagine some shop. had small starting budget, and suddently he can handle big transaction. but the monero itself not fast enough to accomodate the "moving money" so they need to wait just to make balance ready to be spent something like that (i hope soon we can get rid of it for sure)
