Why is this news? I'm not sure, but if I had to guess it is because Zcash shills are desperate for any sort of news showing criminals making contact with their coin.
The reality though is following the Bitget hack, around a dozen different cryptocurrencies were stolen. Among them was Zcash and, seeing as how it was unshielded Zcash, the Bitget hackers have shielded their funds to add a layer of protection. Seems pretty logical to me, as it is difficult to offload the transparent zcash without it getting frozen.
It will be interesting to see what happens from this point. Near Intents has been bragging about stopping hacked funds...if this shielded Zcash ends up being stopped/frozen by Near Intents, that would be awfully embarrassing for Zcash. I don't expect the North Koreans to screw this one up though.
