First you'll need some knowledge. Mastering Monero is a good book to learn the ropes for xmr. But think for yourself and don't assume xmr is the only crypto worth using.
Then you need some moneroj. You can mine it but thats long and expensive. You could buy it, which is not difficult but often involves tradeoffs. Or you can earn it from anyone who has it, which is probably the best way.
Finally, you need to protect it. Which is a whole can of worms and infinetely beyond the scope of this comment. In the end its all worth it to actually own some money that doesn't inflate and you don't need to ask permission to spend.
