If there was a podcast app that catered to the Monero community, what should it be named? My first thought was XMRPod, but I'd like to get more ideas.

But why bloat a podcast app with a whole transaction system at all?
There's separate tooling for this already, like the already mentioned XMRChat.

Development time isn't infinite, you'll be spending time maintaining the XMR part that could be put towards podcast tracking, playback, SponsorBlock, etc.; Things more directly related to podcasts.

The Fountain app has been downloaded 140k times. It's popular because it lets people tip with Lightning directly from the app. Adam Curry promotes it all the time because it's the only thing that executes his podcasting 2.0, value 4 value vision. Would be great if we had that for Monero too, no?

I can see people listening to a podcast being more likely to tip if they can press a button in the app vs switching to a browser, entering a URL they have to remember, and then tipping.

As for development time, it won't be a big effort. We plan to fork AntennaPod adding a button that launches a mobile wallet app, like the "Open in My Wallet" button on XMRChat QR code screen does today. It'll prepopulate recipient and amount, listener then looks it over and sends.

XMR Live

Looks like xmrlive.com and xmr.live are both open for registration

@ancap_objectivist good lord... please give me patience...
Because you can tip as you are listening? Did you even try Fountain or look into it?
The Internet is full of autistic "ancaps" like you, not surprised.

@FiatDemise That's actually great to know, wish you had led with that! That means you can let upstream handle the main stuff and you focus on the transactions. Writing something like AntennaPod from scratch to make a XMR-flavored app would be misguided imo.

AntennaPod is a great example of what I mean here; They actively push back on feature requests that aren't directly related to playback and/or Sync.
I had to get into it with them a while ago to limit automatic, non user-initiated API calls on the "Add Podcast" screen; the concern was that having too many settings bloats up the UX. They ended up adding a button for it rather than a setting, a good middle ground imo.
What this means to me is there aren't many new features (eg.: SponsorBlock integration), but I can be sure that development time is going towards more important areas like playback.

@rafael_xmr Yup! That's what inspired this thread. I like XMRPod and think it accurately describes the app, but I wanted to be open to other ideas in case many hated it, heh. We're moving forward with XMRPod for now, can change later if inspiration strikes.
