SNeedlewoods has been working on moving Monero's CLI and RPC wallets away from the older "wallet2" code and toward the Wallet API. Their Q3 work includes making the Wallet API feature-complete, removing cached passwords, and replacing "wallet2" in both wallet interfaces.
