Monero RPC/Node Hosting - what do you think about this?

if I buy one does it help the Monero network or is it for development only?

@Aaron Hi, thanks for sharing this. To be honest, I find the price a bit high. Personally, I can’t really see myself paying more for a node than for a VPN.

From what I’ve seen, the usual setup recommended for running a node is around 2 cores and 4 GB of RAM, so I’m curious why the offer is based on 16 cores and 16 GB of RAM.

That said, I think the idea behind your service is great, and I hope it finds its audience.

@prophet hi - this is primarily for development purposes - BUT - I would argue, any development on the Monero Blockchain does actually help the ecosystem, and this is surely something to make that process faster, which in turn should/could increase the production rate of a lot of developers.

Thanks for your feedback - you're right, we price the product based on the resources we provide.

The Monero Blockchain is massive - we need to give you enough storage to cover it - we also give you NVMe storage, meaning you can process and filter through data so much faster than with a poor drive type.

By the way, our servers are super powerful, and are actually known as Hybrid Servers or VDS - they are KVM machines with dedicated specs, your power, is yours.

@Aaron "VDS" is impossible with your pricing, do not lie.

Going by your highest package, selling 3x 32 core packages on a 96 thread CPU is completely unsustainable. Not to mention that threads are not cores and so will not ever give the same performance as a core, it can be as little as a 10-30% performance boost to enable hyperthreading on a CPU, so you do not magically double the performance. I already know that you're not selling a dedicated 2/3rds of your server's real CPU cores for just 42 GBP, because you wouldn't even cover your colocation bill.

Pretty much all your packages are misleading in this exact way and no combination of them would be commercially viable without overselling. You're relying heavily on people not using their CPU allocation at all and so there will be high CPU steal when you actually fill the server enough to make money from it.
