@SpinningCat What does one have to do with the other? One was a honey pot, the other is a pdf reader. I see an exactly zero percent chance of the feds kicking in your door over violating ToS of a Kindle, as ToS violations are not criminal offenses. And what's the worst Amazon could do, send a strongly worded letter?

I wonder, how cheap are they, and considering the efford needed to jailbreak, would it be more worth it to find a generic e-reader? I got recommended a 'boox' or a 'kobo'
I suppose if older kindles are being sold in droves online, then buying them and jailbreaking to resell could be a fun side gig.

That same principle applies to many items- I used to enjoy some Nintendo DS jailbreaking, fun times. It's definitely an area where you could make money, you just have to factor in the cost of the item, the risk of the firmware being incompatible with any jailbreaking method (most normie sellers probably won't even know what firmware is installed), risk of jailbreak failing, risk of not finding a buyer, risk of shipping issues, etc.

Since I read everything on my phone anyhow, that's not a market for me personally (I do like the concept of an e-ink phone tho).

same reason why would use linux too and to compile from source the things, prevent tempering of binaries or directly the hardware

@SpinningCat Yea I understand that concern, but to care compare the feds selling a phone marketed to criminals in order to arrest those criminals to reading ebooks is a massive leap in logic and hardly comparable. And you can drop the making about me part. No fucking need for that shit

@SpinningCat yea I highly doubt they are jailbreaking kindles with some kind of malware or tracking in the off chance you just happen to buy one. There is cautious paranoia, and then there is cripling schizophrenia
