Hello,

I have been mining with a pool for a little while now, and the rewards are kinda meh, not exciting. I am interested in trying solo mining. I understand that I can go a long time without making anything at all, and that's fine, I'm not worried about the electricity costs, I just think it would be a rush to find a block on my own and make a nice score. If it takes a year or two, oh well, so be it. I'm a gambler, what can I say.

Can anybody point me to a guide or something about how to get started mining solo? Thanks!

well, wownero, botting the videogames... everything literally better than mining monero directly...

and the usual argument (which i disagree with @nemesis on that) is that, you wanna support the network mining monero at a loss?
i think that's just dumb and you could support the network better by not mining monero
ik, crazy right?

but the issue being, it's already not profitable, i did a giveaway of solo-mined blocked on the CCS back in 2025 btw, to clown those dumbasses that cant math about profitability
like, literally just posted the mnemonic seed on CCS comments for literally anyone to redeem those 0.6 XMR blocks

same as the private key giveaway did on that thread when yolo'd 100% of life savings on the elections:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=102353093&f=383&p=668085973
(which that one ended up being redeemed from someone in the political section rather than the monero thread directly)

anyways, been mining for awhile u know, enough to have time to do the actual math on why mining at a loss doesnt help the network
it increases the nethash (which sure, in itself that "secures the network"), but that dont do nothing regarding mining profitability for everyone else, it does the opposite, making it even less profitable for the others
unless... price of the coin itself goes up as much as the nethash (and increasing electricity costs as well)

so... mining at a loss is just stoopid dumb cause like, for the hashrate you adding to the nethash, maybe that'll make an other miner to consider shutting down their own rigs from being in debt or whatever from going in the red on those electric bills:

while... instead of wasting those costs on electricity, they could just buy the coin directly, making the price actually go up, making it profitable again for miners to join back the network in a more healthy environment that doesnt tell them like a cult mentality to go in the red broke from mining
