I live in Iran. My country's currency is banned in almost every website. Is there a way to buy monero in Iran with IRR (Iranian Rials) ?

What skill do you have? You can speak Arabic? You can become translator. Or if you can draw you can do commission too in Xmrbazaar. You mentioned you're from Iran it's make me remember there's this one reddit post in the art community asking how to get paid for their work and some mention crypto as payment option and he's from Iran too. It could be the best option there is to get crypto anonymously without giving your data to CEX.

@Bukkit i mean, the suggestion was you buy it from there, then if they had no xmr setting, just swap it to xmr. or if you want it clean, and already had bank, maybe cough use my services on xmrbazzar, just do simple bank transfer and i will swap it to my XMR

(i can make the invoice for it too like... paying scripting/sites rework things.... just in case you need it for clearance, or just via oplata and you just pay it on bank or card just like you do in supermarket lol)
but in nutshell. not that hard to buy crypto on there, isn't you already integrated to some china and russian things as for now?, just use any crypto and then swap it to monero. webmoney itself i remember they had monero on it

@Bukkit >I live in iran. The only currency we have is Iranian tomans (1000 IRR = 1k Iranian tomans) and Iraniam Rials (A.K.A IRR) which isn't supported in the websites you listed.

Yes I'm aware. The first website (https://trocador.app)is the second step for if you were able to buy literally any other cryptocurrency. The first website, Trocador, allows you to easily swap essentially any other cryptocurrency into Monero, therefore achieving your goal. The thing that is missing is the first step, obtaining any cryptocurrency. I thought that my advice would be helpful because it changes your first step from "Buy Monero" into "Buy any cryptocurrency at all", which I assume to be easier.

The second website (zola.ink) is someone from Iran that likes Monero that you could get in touch with through the contact methods they list.

Wasn't Iran charging fees for the Strait of Hormuz in BTC? I remember a hopium post on reddit that they might switch to XMR and pump us. Either way, if the government is tacitly endorsing crypto, shouldn't it be relatively easy to exchange crypto for cash?

Godspeed brother.

@bulletbill22 For the government, not the people. If the people stopped using Iran's currency and switched to crypto, then Iran's currency would suffer even more consequences making matters worse and not better for the government. How are you going to tax your citizens through money printing and inflating the money supply, if they aren't using your currency?

Unless you can find an Iranian exchange or some locals who have crypto and are willing to sell it to you, your best bet is to work online and make money that way. I don't really see another viable option.

This is also why cybercrime is a popular option in restricted countries.

@Yuzuki

Couldn't Iran just peg their currency to BTC? Obviously its impossible to determine an exchange rate if you can't exchange Rial for BTC, but doing some napkin math converting USD to BTC to Rials, 1 Rial is about 1500 Satoshis. Then they could just collect taxes in BTC (or Rials). I mean their economy is in shambles anyway so I don't know how they're collecting taxes at all when some people can't afford food, but at least you can't say that they couldn't enforce taxes because of currency exchange issues.

@Bukkit
dang, llm said yall had cheaper electricity over there but yea i guess its still expensive anyways :/
well... could do the whole build your own local network of people to trade with, bring them on haveno and then others in the same situation could trade over there type thing i guess...
that's like the catch 22 type thing u know
if no one posting offers on the platform then other people be like "but there is no offer on it", gotta start somewhere, its alot of work tho...
like, you would have to be the whole douglas tuman of iran doing the whole being social with people and things, that's a headache lol
