The UK also passed their own ID verification law and are now proposing a midnight social media curfew for teens aged 16 and 17.

Things are becoming more and more draconian in the world. If things are going to turn out like in Australia, then those teens will find ways around it. Technically, it's not difficult to get around any of those laws. Personally, I just buy mainstream social media accounts whenever I need to access those services. Doesn't cost much and I can toss them after some time.
What I can see happening is fediverse platforms becoming increasingly popular with teens, because you don't have the same restrictions and anyone can host an instance. Technology has a tendency to adapt when governments push increasingly draconian rules on people.
