+1 on the OP's suggestion/request.
Most people do not know how /comfy/ it is to read and reply to online discussions via your email setup. Be it neomutt, or notmuch email clients, an email client allows you to be "local first". Discourse forum software is perhaps the peak of such experience. I have joined lots of programming community forums, which use Discourse as their forum software, and I follow 10 of them from my single email client. Each new message drops to my email mailbox, and using the client side filters I move these emails to their local folders and sort them. I can go through hundreds of messages and threads from lots of diverse forums very quickly, AND, reply to any one of them from my email client. All the while without the hassle to open my tor browser, enter the URL, click the login button, enter my username, open my password manager, copy-paste my password, click on the new/unread messages, .etc. etc. etc.
So, yeah, it would be amazing if we could:
- get every new forum posts to our email inboxes, via message threading
- reply to any of the forum posts from our email clients
This essentially brings back the "mailing list", or Newsgroup-like experience to the modern forums, and I love it.
