sgp_: previewed forthcoming @MagicGrants news. Months ago a MAGIC-contracted researcher flagged possible Bulletproofs+ security-proof issues that first looked like a soundness/inflation bug. Further analysis showed it was not a soundness issue.

MAGIC’s board immediately funded a full BP+ proof review from its own funds; after that review there are no known issues. The full report will be posted publicly in coming days. The issue was specific to BP+, not regular Bulletproofs, and the investigation was not AI-assisted

The title doesn't definitively say there wasn't an inflation bug until the third to last word. Had me worried lol.

Funny enough I spent a good 5 minutes rewording the title to make sure it didn't look bad and the only two posts in here are saying I made it look bad. lol.

they say the investigation was not ai-assisted but given they suddenly launched a claude opus 5 review army for every monero PR https://github.com/xmrack/monero-review/issues it makes it seem that the findings themselves may be showing up to them by external people using claude and they want to catch false positives early to avoid these scares, because otherwise a simple self-hosted or api-priced DS4-flash could review PRs for the same result as opus 5, for a lot cheaper, unless anthropic gave them a free plan for open-source

@rafael_xmr hm I'm not sure. There were some cryptic comments in the irc. I imagine the full story will be out eventually.
