permissionless p2p trading

I want to know about your experiences with p2p swaps of monero/crypto for paper cash by mail.

Its not something I've ever done before, but the option intrigues me as a permissionless fiat rail so I want to find out how well it works in practice.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II Never did it, but I like the idea too. Just have some serious trust issues doing so. A lot can go wrong.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II Mail in the US is my issue. They are outright retarded. I wouldn't necessarily feel confident sending one dollar

@Nebuchadnezzar_II Yea you put enough insurance on something that looks like a letter, that could raise some flags at the post office. And not that sending cash is illegal or anything, but could bring on unwanted scrutiny to the package

@Nebuchadnezzar_II if you still had money on bank, just exchange it to some cupon / gift card
last german client that i had, he said he had hard time to get monero, and even ltc is get alot of kyc. so instead forcing him buy crypto, i ask him to buy gift card (back then like monero, Playstation, and google play) then give him the crypto

For mail in.... isnt all mail on US tracked? after bombing by some guys who hate modern-ist things?

lol

I do it but only up to a few thousand and haven't had any issues yet. Only with trusted people that I've met IRL and traded with before. The weak link is whatever post service.

I've met in real life for cash trading options. Never had any issues. I just wouldn't trade a large amount and stick to reputable buyers/sellers.

@UsualCat
That's a good idea to use gift cards. I bet they can be transferred instantly without a mailman. Was it easy to find someone to buy the gift card though?

I don't know much about the mail, but its definitely not all insured by default.
