Some drama in the Monero community today as two cakewallet partners (that we know of) were contacted by a hacked telegram account that had previously been used to organize things on behalf of cakewallet. After the account got hacked cakewallet did not reach out to anybody to warn people about this.
The scam consisted of planning a meeting several days in advance and a deep fake webcam feed of the employee to build trust. Apparently the deep fake was gesturing towards her ear (implying the audio wasn't working) and attempted to get the targets to open malware.
