When it comes to so-called 'wrench attacks' Everyone always talks about not using a KYC exchange. And yes, that is a good start. But a data breach is not the only reason people get attacked, and crytpos are not the only reason people get attacked. Has nobody considered what you do in regards to any criminal attacking you? Like maybe be armed? You may not be able to own a gun where you live, but chances are you can own and carry a knife. Carry pepper spray. And another thing that far too many fail on. Situational awareness. Put you damn phone away and take the damn earbuds out when you are in public. Pay attention to every person you see. Head on swivel, check your six. If you feel you must, cross the street. Stay out of unlit alleys. Most crime that occurs in public happens because the victim looks like an easy target. Walk like you own the place. Present yourself with confidence. Head up. Shoulders back. Make eye contact. Can it still happen? Of course. But you can do many things that would give a would-be attacker pause as to if you are an easy target or not.

I think that a lot of wrench attacks are also caused by people being public about cryptocurrency that they own. Like the guy flaunting his wealth at a rooftop bar could be unknowingly giving personal info to somebody who can later sell it to a local gang who could take advantage of him. If you are marked as an affluent crypto investor, chances are high you have a large stash in your home. This happens frequently with foreigners who leave their country and live in Asia or South America. They become too trusting without realizing that they are being observed.

@xenu
Also dates can be just as dangerous as amounts.
Like we might think that not revealing the amount makes us less likely to be targeted than someone flaunting wealth.
But if the markets shoot up, then any amount of interest from the time before that pump is a potential beacon for wrenchers.

I saw a shop in Thailand with the shopfront labelled: 'Weed and Bitcoin'. Most bait shop idea ever and its the one weed shop I never tried.
