Another Week, Another Critical Vulerability

Lightening network. What's even the point in it. Glorified custodial bitcoin. Just use doge.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II I'll occasionally use it for certain merchants that take it, but I don't keep any on hand other than that. Not a fan of it, but if I can buy something I want with it, and they don't take xmr, I'll use it for that. For me Doge serves no purpose. I'm still not even sure why it exists outside the joke it originally was

@nemesis doge is cool. Its very easy to use, very fast and cheap transactions. Uses scrypt for consensus which cant compete with sha but might provide diversification for miners (its mined by scrypt asics). Basically its just better than lightening and has a cool dog on it.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II yea I guess its good for trading and mining, but for me, if I can't buy something with it, I don't have a use for it. And I'm sure there are merchants somewhere that take it, but xmr and btc/LN (when xmr isnt an option) cover my needs. I'm a simple guy, I use these things for money only.

Brutal. Once they put out the new release everyone will figure out the exploit too.
Only makes me more nervous about Monero lol.

@nemesis you get me wrong. Dogecoin is a good currency because its much faster and cheaper to make transactions, and not custodial like lightning network. I'm not sure how adopted it is but its ideal for that exact use case. Good for tipping too.

@xenu somehow I've got more faith in monero software than lightning.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II No I get what you were saying, but the merchants I was referring to when using btc or LN are bitcoin only. So wouldn't help me. Otherwise, XMR covers my needs when using any digital coins. And I use a non-custodial LN wallet (Cake) for the times I do use it. I don't run my own node, who wants those headaches, but I wouldn't use a custodial wallet. There are a few non-custodial ones out there, Phoenix and Zeus, perhaps more. But they aren't all custodial.
