ebay amazon shoppe make money digital id avoid kyc

Here is my latest idea. Nothing has gone into this apart from a spontaneous thought so don't expect anything more yet.

Whether we like it or not, people these days are reliant on online shopping for essential supplies. Lately, the access thereto is increasingly gated by digital id infrastructure such as digital banking and account verification flows. This is the reality in so many markets across the world and its often crippling for people who are for some reason excluded from the digital id system.

Enter Anon Supermarket (call it something else if you want). The idea is that we dropship any (suitable) goods or services from digital id gated system to pseudonymous users for xmr, using multisig wallets and reputation for security. Instead of holding its own money / digital id, anon supermarket delegates orders to peers with access to the system and money to spend. In return these peers get a KYC-free source of crypto at a good price. I suppose the exchange rate could be dictated by market makers on either side. I expect that users will pay a premium to access the gated market on demand, making this a potential way to get no KYC xmr for LESS than spot.

The atomic swap setup would be similar to haveno, except transactions are settled by delivery of a third party service rather than direct payment.
This would be fundamentally different to xmrbazaar because instead of directly buying from peers you are asking peers to buy something for you in exchange for crypto. This means that anything on ebay, for example, is instantly available.
One down side is that your address will be exposed. I think this is alright for shoes and parts and shit even if not for cars and gold and shit, but that's just an opinion.

Effectively, this is proxy shopping on Amazon. Most sites that have done this ran into issues or the operator just stopped being reliable (AnonShop).

The other concept similar was Purse.io from 2014 where random Chinese people would buy Amazon products for customers in exchange for Bitcoin. You would put out a wish list and they would buy it and get the Bitcoin. All these models are brittle and the only thing that lasted was gift and prepaid card sellers.

Really, people just want to be able to buy things on Amazon with Monero.

People are 100 of different profiles. Even if you catch 80% of a current or trend you miss the rest 20%.

@monerica
Yes that's right. Its just an amazon to xmr adapter. Or any other online shopping.
That's a shame to hear that it didn't work out before. Why do you think its so brittle? Surely with multisig escrow and public reputation it ought to be reliable? Maybe prepaid cards are just better.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II There are too many steps. Too much manual stuff like ordering, sending payments to KYC exchange, etc. It's not going to work with limits that are coming. There's no API to do any of this. It's a bad business model and legally risky. Maybe it's still being done but it's not a long term idea.

Will some people pay an insane premium like 15%+ to get some random person to buy things on Amazon in Monero? Maybe. But the irony is that it used to be you would save 15% using Purse.io because someone wanted BTC without KYC.

Gift cards are infinitely better. The problem is just that people want some anon account, which is very hard to achieve. You have to link your identity with a regular credit card. What would be good is a guide on how to set up a new Amazon account which won't get shut down then load it with gift card credit. Then the user could just ship to an Amazon locker and not pay premiums.

And if you listen to what people actually buy from interviews about this stuff, it's almost always some NSFW product on Amazon. So, these are not people buying routine products, mostly just stuff they are embarrassed about being in the Amazon account.

@monerica
Thankyou for engaging.
I'm not really convinced by your criticisms:

  • I don't see how it requires using KYC exchanges. Just amazon, ebay, shoppe...
  • The business is not about taking either side of the trade, we'll probably just take a small fee for every trade. Whichever side is paying the premium shouldn't matter to us.
  • Gift cards and prepaid cards might be more private but they don't solve the problem of restricted access. If I can't even login to amazon, I can't spend the gift card. For example, I don't own a smart phone because they're shit, but consequently I couldn't do online shopping in thailand at all; I just wasn't allowed on the platforms! I think this is very suddenly a much bigger problem than before and they're gearing up to make it a lot worse.

@Nebuchadnezzar_II the KYC exchagne is required since the way this model works is you buy products for someone on Amazon with your credit card and you fund it by depositing to the exchange, withdrawing to a bank account which pays the credit card bill.

It's not about trading, it's about funding the credit card.

It's possible to do this for a few people here and there if you trust them. The point was about making a real business out of this, which will require a streamlined liquidity of XMR to USD.
