News LLMs Articles AI Skepticism Economy

hopefully titles can be changed later if I get the brain cells needed to think of a better one.
this is gonna be a hub for LLM / Generative AI critical posts (videos and articles), plus featuring some creators making quality videos on the topic.
added: and in general you can consider this one guy's POV of the current US economy.
Don't expect news on the nitty gritty of AI. development, I'm just here to watch the wod burn.

I'll likely update / reply to the post with new videos or articles or new news that I find day to day.
Newsletters worth reading:

(podcast: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsdzuPs5NKvdsBkQnP7Af8w )
Deep dives into the actual financial numbers of LLMs, real dives into asking WHERE ARE THE DATA CENTERS, THE GPUS, AND THEE DEMAND? the circular finance issue, the private credit and equity iceberg, and how we are in the Enshittification era
I have access to the premium newsletters.

Heh, well you did reply so lemme reply in return

I wish more gamers didn't care about graphics, but also I wish more game devs embraced stylized models instead of chasing after hyper real-shit

like this turd of a man seems to give an example of the mindset of some casual gamers:
https://pigpiggo.net/?keyword=Graphics&title=&startDate=&endDate=&start=0&tab=search

this won't make sense to anyone who isn't a dsp autist like me.
he's the kind of guy who praises a game for amazing graphics because it's realistic and fukin... idk what else.
personally I find a lot of games super ugly, 8020 being an example. I hate modern lip syncing / facial mocap.

I got my latest gpu so I could play horizon zero dawn- but you aren't wrong in a way because I played it for a while on my old 970 with every setting turned to lower than low.
I'm someone who plays games 5+ years out of date, and usually niche games. the few realistically styled games I've played... assassins creed, infamous, horizon 0d + fw...

speaking of summer, I work in the attic, no ac, I might really suffer this summer playing horizon ngl xD

the only new game I've wanted to play is Pragmata, I was surprised at how well the demo ran for me

but one thing I'll say:
I made this thread so I could have some way to contribute to the forum. if the forum was only limited to monero talk, well, it would be hard to grow a wider community if you limit discussion topics. I'm an artist, a gamer, and someone that likes reading articles and watching videos,
im not a developer or someone who is lucky enough to deal with monero regularly lel

aight, thanks for the reply and explaining a bit more your perspective on that
ngl i kinda have some ptsd about gamers that were crying about "those damn cryptominers making the GPUs so expensive", while they didnt even need the damn GPUs in the first place...... 5700G was running perfectly fine for the games they were crying about needing GPUs for smh
which i been able to run over 9x + instances of the game i playing rn on it
context: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=106605329&p=675808783#p675808783

tldr: GPUs are overated, gamers will literally buy anything labelled as "for gaming"
as this this is a low powered inexpensive rig without even a GPU and can run even more instances than 9x, while staying stable with great performances

now the ryzen ai max+ with 8060S integrated graphics is even more actual next level and is more similar to an actual rtx 4070 iirc, so like... yeah, no point in a whole dedicated GPU for that

and now... guess what's making those GPUs expensive lmao, that damn AI thing LOL

and like idk, minimalism or somethin u know
vibrations or whatever can force the user to having to reseat the GPU, like reseating the RAM sometimes...
imo nowadays GPUs are just bloat there

and yea good luck on that summer thing, no AC be tough T_T
just remember to be drinking the water u know :P

I mean there are some interesting things to be said about the entire gaming hardware industry
gamers wanting to be cool by having the best hardware -> game developers wanting more investor money by pushing 'graphics' "this game has state of the art gay ray trading tracing magnet powers!!" ( UAE has sent you 200 million dollars) (Tencent has sent you 200 million dollars) --> Game Hardware makers smell the money and push for tiny improvements that let them push out a new generation as the BESTEST THING EVAR at thousands of dollars --> repeat the cycle!!

But the one positive I was looking forward to seeing because of companies abandoning consumers for the ai hype (the subject of the video I posted) was a renaissance in the 'optimized games' world, where style and performance are celebrated, not just 'how much this game makes my room, and how much my gpu screams while running it'

but yeah i remember the age of everyone complaining about crypto miners taking all the GPUs lol

funny news related to that:
nvidia was fined for not disclosing crypto mining profits
and did you know that a lot of AI focused data centers used to be crypto mining companies?

and also goddamn, how can a company like Crucial just go 'lol selling to consumers is lame, bye guys, we're gonna have fun selling to the cool ai guys now'

it's a crazy, and very convenient, pivot.
I just really hope they don't go back to crypto mining if this all goes boom xD

and it's unfortunate that I don't know much about Ryzen , hopefully intel is doing better than AMD in capturing the consumer market rn

ngl I need to drink more water, I drink a lot of water and milk kefir and tea and coffee, but I don't wanna end up like this girl:
https://singaporeuncensored.com/vietnamese-tiktok-star-diagnosed-with-blood-cancer-after-years-of-surviving-on-bubble-tea-instead-of-water/

(though, I think there is probably more behind her sickness than just bubble tea... like countless surgery or something idkkk)

and did you know that a lot of AI focused data centers used to be crypto mining companies?

did not know that, thanks for the info and yea i guess it does make sense there :O

and it's unfortunate that I don't know much about Ryzen , hopefully intel is doing better than AMD in capturing the consumer market rn

idk to me intel is pretty much shitlisted for life lol
there is the "Intel ME" and "AMD PSP" which are similar but in case of intel it has some remote capabilities iirc
tho no known vulnerability on that for now but when american state agencies have their own custom intel without it but the regular people do, that's just way too sus...

and like in this thread:
https://monero.forum/thread/what-do-you-guys-think-about-moneroshamelist-com?page=2#replies

damn... that one sucks Y_Y
and idk why novacustom is in "alternatives", couldnt find any ryzen anything on there...
literally all 100% intel everywhere all the time
and tbf been the same for shopinbit too... or tbh, pretty much every single retailers everywhere since literally forever...
only intel...
tbf, been the same with "Windows" too, linus explains the SEO strategies microsoft been doing (applicable to intel too):
(timestamp around 8:35)

tldr: intel be sus

hopefully intel is doing better than AMD in capturing the consumer market rn

i dont hope that lol

anyways, actually gotta go back to the gaming thing, i been slacking for couple hours
so will let u go back to posting content for your thread too lol

(also jfc, this thread is uncovering many bugs within the forum... people actually need to post more in the bugs & suggestion category to fix those bugs things...)

ngl I might have assumed Ryzen was an Intel thing xD

but in today's news....

Diving into the Open AI 'math solving' news

my thoughts:
so, ai seems very suitable for helping humans by being trained in a specific range of fields, and then using those specialties to conduct specific tedious or monotonous work in order to explore pathways that a human might otherwise give up on (because of said tedium)

and, I'm not talking about LLMs. ai has a lot of cooler machinations that we don't hear about a lot. the word predictor machine has captivated everyone, but I think the future is gonna be ai in another form, one that works under the hood of programs made to do specific tasks like code review , math proofs, medical and scientific. discovery, etc.

elon musk wants to squeeze more money out of his single money making machine

And I mean, why shouldn't he? I hope he squeezes even more, so another company sees the opportunity and does the same thing (competition is the best thing!). or the gov puts the work into setting up their own system.
each drone has now doubled in price from around 35 to around 60 cause of the new $25k price tag of starshield.
