@nemesis maybe just careless from your side which is understandable.... some westerner tend to do it
instead they do optimization, and make flow shorter and simpler, they just want to scale. which almost all my western client do.
they seems doesn't care about optimization. i still remember when 1+ year working for some partner from germany "why i get choosen if the competitor of mine was having higher skills"
all he said is just i love making some cutting edge and efficiency. other server manager that he hire, asked to upgrade almost all spec, (which is not wrong), while i just want he to upgrade network port speed and disk size. back then server 1 core, 2GB ram, 100GB storage even can handle 10k concurrent traffic with "almost intense" read write... while the other guy who managing it want to upgrade the spec towards 2-4Core, 8++GB ram and else....
maybe you just don't get it since you seems never doing merchant things. which is understandable. its better to discuss something else for sure. not all people understand all type of topic. funny to see how merchant need to wait 10block lock before can moving his own money, and then suddenly out of the blue yet yelled as poor planning... poorly managed business? lol i think enough, discussion isn't even moving at all... no single explanation
no single argument from what example i already bring...
for "one more thing, even if the lock would be eliminated, it wouldn't happen anytime soon, so its still something you will have to deal with until that time, should that time come."
yeah completely agree with you. it need deep research for sure. but earlier discussion come far on past.... its make no sense that we almost had no "unique" feature. if i not forget, the last big feature release 2 years ago(?) thats why good idea should be discussed. or they think it had no single fan
so yeah its my overall opinion about block lock....
maybe just like other topic like...
"adding 2FA on forum"
ofc its critical security feature
but still some people yelling that
"They can just make new account, its free. etc"
or
"2fa doesn't increase the security, they just increase difficulty when we're about to login"
welp.... something like that.... wrong way of thinking. if someone doesn't need 2FA, it doesn't mean whole world doesn't need it. if someone doesn't care about account security doesn't mean whole world doesn't care about it too, but since we're at monero forum... its free speak i guess
