And it seems @monerica has decided to go make their own forum too. Poor move honestly when this place already exists, hasn't got anything wrong with it, and is pretty quiet already.

Thanks for reminding me! I probably won't be renewing the listing on Monerica until I finish some things. I was hoping to push more updates to the forum this month but I have had 0 free time.

Lets hope my schedule is free this coming months to work on Monero Forum

@Kodomu Yes, this decision was made because the sponsorship here was not renwed. As one of the most active people here, it seemed best to put that effort into another forum controlled by Monerica. As Monerica has a network of several sites now, and the effort to make one was low, it was a logical decision. Will people join and participate? We shall see. Go where you want to go. Monerica has a lot of directory clones so that's the way things work these days.

@monerica If you are just going to make copies of sites when people don't pay the $2,300+ a month you want for sponsorships the same day their renewal is due then I have zero interest in doing sponsorship with you in the future. I have no problem with people making their own forums, I take issue with the "this decision was made because the sponsorship here was not renwed".

Maybe I should start my own dedicated Monero directory site because the effort to do so is low :)

@admin Originally, Monerica was sponsoring this site as the 1st sponsor but the banners started rotating to not show the them as much. The intention was to actually be the dedicated sponsor of this site but the banner display issue was never resolved or clear and that did not feel like a welcome invitation to keep paying. You could have easily raised the prices to offset needing 3 other people at the same time.

As far as other directories, there are several copies of Monerica: https://xmr.club/ , https://moneroindex.com/ , https://moneroist.com/ , https://xmrlist.com/ and more. These are nearly identical in terms of the listings, sponsorship and so on. If you want to make another one, go ahead. Monerica even lists them as other directories.

The prices are what people pay based on market demand, they have kept going up for a long time since the main buyers are exchanges who are making tons of money. It's all relative. Am confused how it made sense for this forum to pay even once for a sponsorship from an ROI standpoint.

What exact decision would justify making a forum? Not renewing sponsorship seems like a valid reason to make another forum.

Originally, Monerica was sponsoring this site as the 1st sponsor

not sure if was before or after but since March 6, 2026 at 18:26:18 UTC the gaming research lab been sponsoring monero.forum
so there could be a chance that monerica not even the "1st sponsor" either
