If you haven't had a chance to listen this interview, I highly recommend it. Doug does a great job with his questions to keep things moving, and Berman is well spoken and on top of basically every challenge facing Monero. Some highlights:
View Key discussion - Justin Berman gives a strong rebuttal to the conspiratorial fud that has been seen on social media lately, by breaking down how view keys today are already vulnerable to poisoned output attacks, and how the update will greatly improve ux with things like hardware wallets and multisig.
Stressnets - Highlights the difference between the Beta and Alpha stressnets. Also clarifies that the reason the Alpha stressnet was taking so long was due to nodes crashing from an OOM issue, and that they covered a lot of ground here so the Beta stressnet should be smoother
Goes over some potential issues with fcmp++, such as:
- adjustment period after v19 hard fork which will cause some delays if services or exchanges aren't aware of the hard fork update.
- sync times will increase
- transactions will take longer to send
Later, Berman discusses the things that are blocking FCMP++ today, such as the specific things needing audits, the coordination ongoing, and even some new information such as former Monero dev koe returning to work on the multisig. Based on what I am hearing, the most likely time for launch will be Q4 2026.
Lastly, Berman gives an update on post quantum and thoughts on the different Tevador proposals. One proposal, being considered, would only protect tx amounts (meaning somebody could still print counterfeit XMR). Another proposal would require live interaction for txs to send (I doubt this would pass).
Anyways, this is two hours of great content and I highly recommend if you are looking to get caught up with the latest in XMR.
