Is this the game we’re supposed to play? Posting services under the name of those services, but not actually being those services?
Since reading through threads, some of those “services owners” don’t even respond after login in just once or twice, or are they just bad at doing business?
I’m asking because it was also a concern being raised regarding xmrchat, people making pages on others behalf to trick people to donate to it.
For example Luke Smith: https://xmrchat.com/luke
Someone made a donation asking this:
Can you verify that youre the real Luke Smith? Actually, itd be nice if the devs added a feature for people to verify via PGP or some kind of matching code you have to post on your social media or official website.
So are all the merchants and services on this forum, just alt accounts from a couple people to fake activity? Or is it all legit?
And last but not least, am I skyzo for even asking this?
yea idk, i feel like am too much already tbh, like i joined too early or somethin u know
while literally waited couple weeks before even joining, ded forum rn, needs more activity
pretty sure those are indeed the actual owners of those services that are posting, allark for example did have that exact same writing pattern and emojis they had on those chats last year
but tbh who knows, am easy to getting psyopted anyways, like, could have been someone that studied those writing patterns from allark and posted in here, tho very unlikely lol
i think that was actually them lol, they just bad at doing business and ghosted after being called scammers or somethin, most likely
and most likely just 1 dude running the business, acting all professional or whatever, being all like they have thousands of transactions or somethin but is just 1 dude that dont know how to even run a business
if there was that many transactions, retoswap would have more liquidity, they just lying ass scammers pretty much lol
well, just my theory at least, who the fuck knows…
would be nice to have more activity tho, literally just 1 week on here and i already spammed way too much… https://monero.forum/u?order=post_count&period=all
twice more messages already than #2 while being here for 3 times less days
and i wasnt even trying to spam or anything, just regular posting, not even actual actual spamming, but those numbers be like, yea i been spamming a bit too much lol
It would be impossible to answer definitively unless, for example, you asked Luke Smith himself.
You should assume that they are all scams unless the real person has confirmed somewhere else that the account belongs to them. Social media, website, etc.
Always be careful. For months there was a service listed on kycnot.me that was fraudulent. It allegedly provided SIM cards for monero. I bought one which never arrived. Only after my report did it get delisted.
Thank you for the heads-up.
For eSim, which, granted is not physical Sim card, but the recommended mobile setup in the community is through GrapheneOS anyways, then SilentLink has been really good overall: https://silent.link
They accept Monero directly, and contrary to other services, don’t need to bother refilling every month, can just add enough on the account and it will work for a whole year.
(can still refill when needed when running out of data through the “Top up” option)
Then yearly, to keep the number, through the “Renew” option.
Very good service overall for mobile data.
